WORKSHOP PLANNING

Matching Lifts, Tire Machines and Alignment Equipment in a New Workshop

Plan lifts, tire changers, wheel balancers and alignment equipment as working bays. Check vehicle fit, operating space, utilities and exact quotation scope.

Lifts, tire machines and alignment equipment displayed in the BAOHUA showroom; not a customer installation

Start with the services, not a machine bundle

A lift, tire changer, wheel balancer and alignment machine can serve the same workshop, but they do not automatically make one compatible station. First list the vehicles and services the shop plans to handle: general repair, tire fitting, balancing and wheel alignment may need different bay layouts and equipment. Decide which jobs must be available on opening day and which can be added later.

Record the vehicle wheelbase, width, weight and wheel types that matter to each job. Use the exact model specifications and the proposed floor plan to check fit. A machine photographed beside another in a showroom is an example of the available categories, not proof that those exact units form a tested package or that they are in stock.

Choose a lift for each service path

A general repair lift should be evaluated against the vehicles it must raise, its lifting points, rated capacity, required floor or foundation and clear working envelope. The BAOHUA EC500 5T asymmetric two-post lift is one product to review for a general repair bay; its product page and model-specific installation documents should be checked before specifying a floor or bay.

Wheel alignment adds a different requirement: the vehicle must sit on a suitable level platform with the necessary turn plates, rear slip plates and measurement access for the chosen procedure. Do not assume a two-post service lift substitutes for an alignment lift. Request the lift and alignment-machine installation drawings together and confirm the exact vehicle range and platform configuration.

Check the tire changer and balancer as a workflow

For tire fitting, record the rim clamping range, maximum complete-wheel dimensions, tire profile and contact-protection requirements separately. The BAOHUA V9120 uses a leverless operating structure and has its own stated configuration; confirm its standard accessories, helper functions and the actual wheels to be serviced. A nominal rim range does not establish universal tire compatibility or guarantee that a rim cannot be marked.

For balancing, confirm the wheel dimensions and weight, mounting accessories, measurement-input workflow and operator training. The BAOHUA CB250P uses manual entry of wheel dimensions. Do not transfer its limits or accessory list to another balancer. Place the changer and balancer so an operator can move a complete wheel safely without blocking the vehicle or another workstation.

Draw the operating envelope, not only the machine footprints

Mark vehicle approach, door opening, lift arm movement, tire-changer column movement, side bead-breaking area, wheel loading and the alignment camera or target sightlines on the same scaled plan. Keep service and walkways clear. Manufacturer base dimensions alone may omit the space needed for an operator, a wheel trolley or a vehicle entering and leaving the bay.

Send the supplier the room dimensions, door positions, ceiling height, floor information and expected vehicle mix. Ask for model-specific installation drawings and required clearances. Confirm whether the proposed equipment can be serviced and maintained in place after the other stations are installed.

Check power, air and site work item by item

List voltage, phase, frequency, socket or circuit arrangements and compressed-air pressure and flow for each selected machine. Then compare the combined demand with the site supply. Where a lift, tire changer and balancer share a project, their electrical or air requirements still have to be verified independently against the exact ordered versions.

For the alignment area, confirm the floor and platform arrangement, lighting, measurement space and any calibration or setup requirements from the matching model documents. Do not start floor, anchor or electrical work from a showroom photograph or a generic catalogue footprint.

Ask for a quotation that names the entire station

Request one itemized list naming each model, variant, standard accessories, options, exclusions, installation documents and packing details. Include the tools and consumables required to start the intended services. For an alignment station, confirm the platform and measurement system separately. Ask what training and local installation work are expected from the buyer or installer.

BAOHUA can help a new automotive repair workshop source equipment and tools as a coordinated package. For an agreed order, consolidated shipment can be coordinated after configuration, packing and readiness are confirmed. Send your services, vehicle mix, bay plan, power and air supplies, quantities and destination so the equipment can be evaluated against the actual project rather than an assumed one-size-fits-all bundle.

Frequently asked questions

Can a general two-post lift be used as an alignment lift?

Do not assume so. Wheel alignment needs a suitable platform and measurement arrangement. Check the exact lift, accessories and alignment-machine documents together.

Are a tire changer and wheel balancer compatible if they are from the same supplier?

They still need to match the shop’s actual wheel sizes, weights, operating workflow and available utilities. Confirm each model and its supplied accessories.

Which dimensions should be on the workshop plan?

Include vehicle approach and departure, the full operating envelope of every machine, operator space, door and ceiling clearances, and maintenance access.

What should I send before requesting a workshop equipment package?

Send the planned services, vehicle and wheel mix, scaled bay plan, floor and utility information, quantities, accessory needs and destination.

Does consolidated shipment follow automatically from a package quotation?

No. The agreed configurations, packing, readiness, load plan and delivery terms must be confirmed for the specific order.

Important

This guide supports early equipment planning. Final dimensions, specifications, installation instructions, supply scope, and applicable documents must be confirmed for the exact model and site before ordering.
